ABOUT SHELTERWOOD FARM
Shelterwood Farm was established in 1972, a 22 acre evergreen tree nursery. The owner is a retired Forester from the Delaware Department of Agriculture. We are Delaware Department of Agriculture Nursery Certified.
Tree species are mainly native varieties, which include pine, fir, and spruce. All trees are either grown from seed or seedlings, which are acclimated to this area. All trees are specimen trees and are sheared. The nursery site is non-irrigated, resulting in a hardy and drought resistant tree. We practice Intergrated Pest Management (IPM) as an effective and environmentally sensible approach, relying on common-sense practices. IPM programs use current, comprehensive information on the life cycles of pests and their interaction with the environment. This information, in combination with available pest control methods, is used to manage pest damage by the most economical means, and with the least possible hazard to people, property, and the environment.
